Nicole Ogden
Clary Sage College Nail Technology Student

Nicole Ogden is a current Nail Technician student at Clary Sage College. Nail art is Nicole’s passion and she was doing nails for her family long before her friend talked her into making a career out of it. This past year there were several times that Tulsa was snowed in and it was during one of these times that Nicole first thought of going to school for her passion. She had posted some nail art on FB that she had done on her family while snowed in and a friend with whom she had gone to art school, commented that she should look in to Clary Sage College to further her skill. “I can’t afford that!” was her response but luckily her friend pushed her to apply and get more information. Through assistance from the Admissions and Financial Aid department she discovered that she was able to make her dream a reality. Nicole is scheduled to graduate in October and has already had 3 job offers through sharing her work via social media!

While going through school Nicole has been working as a Patient Care Aide, helping people in their homes to complete tasks they might otherwise not be able to do themselves. Through this work she has developed a drive for helping the elderly and volunteers at River Ridge Senior Complex in Sand Springs once a month to provide nail care services to the residents. “I like to go there and provide this service for the residents so they feel pretty and also have someone to talk to. All the women do is sit around and play cards. A lot of them are on social security and can’t afford to get their nails at a salon. It also helps me feel good to know that I am contributing to someone else’s happiness.”

Going back to school has allowed Nicole to not only be a source of pride to her family but everyone around her. She is taking her passion and turning it into a career while giving back to the community.
