Community HigherEd is pleased to announce the first recipient of the Founder’s Merit Scholarship, which covers up to 100 percent of tuition, to Nieda Banks, Surgical Technology student at Community Care College.

“Becoming a student at Community Care College and joining the Surgical Technology [Program] was the best decision I ever made, “said Banks. “They really do care about the progress of their students. I am the proud recipient of the Founders Merit Scholarship and I feel truly blessed and grateful.”

Applicants for the Founder’s Merit Scholarship were required to submit two letters of recommendation, an essay and to create a Pinterest board explaining why they chose to go into their field of study.

The Founder’s Merit Scholarship is awarded to a student who demonstrates leadership experience in using skills and abilities to impact their place of employment and the greater, local community,” said Dr. Kevin Kirk, President. “Nieda Banks has shown great passion and purpose in her chosen field of Surgical Technology. Nieda has a track record of community mindedness, and has the determination to be a model student and citizen embodying our CARES culture both in the classroom and in the community.”

Community HigherEd is honored to help Banks achieve her educational dreams.
